About Hangar Three
When it all Started
Hangar Three started in 2006 in an apartment located across the street from the Toledo Mudhens in Toledo, Ohio. The dot-com boom fall had started to come back and Etsy was a new concept. Within the first month of going live, Real Simple Magazine published Hangar Three token necklaces as part of their holiday gift guide. They then took those products onto the CBS Early Show.
Back in 2006, if you search for "token necklaces" Hangar Three was the only result. Today there are many results, but Hangar Three has the largest selection.

What's in the Name?
Hangar Three started off as Hanger 3. Initially a misspelling, the name actually made sense since necklaces "hang" around the neck, they are "hangers." Being the 2016 is the 10th anniversary of Hanger3, it was time to correct the spelling and rebrand the site as Hangar Three.
Like a cliché, the idea for Hangar Three actually came to me in a dream a few years prior to starting the site. I dreamt of a clothing store similar to Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch themed as an old WWII airplane hangar. Propeller fans. Wing tables. Airplane metal riveted walls.

For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be behind the camera. I've taken studio film classes, and have taught myself everything else since.
I started Hangar Three in Toledo, Ohio, have called Champaign, Illinois, and now Indianapolis, Indiana the base of operations.
